How to Become a Great Player

I recently did an Instagram reel that got quite a bit of attention. I decided to go out on a limb and say a hard truth that I’m not sure anyone really wanted to hear. Did you see it? You can check it out by clicking here.

Sometimes we have to take a hard look at ourselves and what we’re doing. It’s easy to get sucked into a comfortable level of just going along and assuming that things will work out if we just:

  • spend more time doing the same thing

or maybe

  • ignore it and it will go away

or perhaps

  • not really commit to change because after all, change is hard, and do I REALLY want to work that hard?

So many excuses! Believe me—I’ve used a lot of them!

Taking a hard look at what we’re doing and where we’re headed is not for the faint of heart. But if you want to make progress, it's completely necessary.

So now, I'm going to ask the same question I asked in my Instagram post:

What is keeping you from being a great player? And what are you going to do to improve?

Pick one aspect of your playing and give me a specific action that you will take every day for a week to work on it.

By being accountable to others, we are more likely to stick to our path. And sticking to our path makes us more likely to achieve our big goals.

So this is your official invitation to count me in as your accountability partner! Write back and let me know what you've decided to work on, and tell me what your plan is for the week. I really want to hear from you! And I promise to respond to everyone who takes up this challenge.

Let’s get better together, one week at a time.

Happy Practicing!
